Red Pink Printed Maxi Kaftan Dress — A Statement Wedding Guest Dress by Sandhya Garg

This is the dress that stops conversations and starts compliments. The Duchess Kaftan Dress in red and pink is a maxi-length kaftan crafted from premium viscose linen satin — a fabric that catches light with a soft luminous finish while keeping you cool through long ceremonies, outdoor receptions, and evening celebrations. Designed by Sandhya Garg, a Project Runway alumna who develops every print from original artwork in her own studio, this dress is produced in limited quantities. When this run sells out, it does not come back.

"This Kaftan is nice. I am six feet tall and though it wasn’t as long as would’ve liked it to be…it was suffice for the outing while on vacation. The material is soft and comfortable. The material thickness fits the style. I haven’t had the opportunity to wash it to test the durability of the material. Most likely, I’ll wash it by hand to preserve it for future use."

What Makes This Kaftan Dress Different

Most printed kaftans you will find online are mass-produced from generic fabric libraries. This one is not. The red-pink ornamental print on the Duchess is a Sandhya Garg original — hand-developed through sketching, painting, and digital refinement before being printed at her own facility. The heritage-inspired motifs draw from textile traditions Sandhya grew up around in India, reinterpreted through a modern lens for women who want their wardrobe to carry craft and story, not just a label.

The viscose linen satin fabric gives you the drape and movement of silk with breathable comfort that lasts through four-hour weddings and beyond. The relaxed kaftan silhouette flatters without clinging, the adjustable waist tie lets you define shape on your terms, and the pleated detailing adds movement and visual interest as you walk.

Perfect For

The Duchess was designed for occasions where you want to be the most interesting person in the room — not the loudest, but the one everyone asks "where did you get that?" Think: wedding guest dressing where you refuse to wear another safe navy midi. Summer outdoor weddings and destination beach ceremonies where the fabric breathes and the print photographs beautifully. Cocktail receptions and evening parties paired with statement earrings. Resort evenings at venues where the dress code says "dress to impress" and you take it personally. Anniversary dinners, milestone celebrations, and formal events where you want a conversation-starting piece that is not another sequin dress.

How to Style This Kaftan Dress

For a formal wedding, pair with gold or rose-gold strappy heeled sandals (block heels work beautifully with the maxi length) and sculptural gold drop earrings — keep the necklace minimal or skip it entirely since the print and neckline carry the visual weight. A structured metallic clutch in gold or champagne completes the look. For a destination or outdoor event, swap to embellished flat sandals and a delicate chain bracelet. The kaftan silhouette layers naturally over a slim-fit bodysuit or seamless slip if you want extra structure underneath. For cooler evenings, the Fleur Blue Geometric Tapestry Jacket creates a striking high-low contrast over this dress.

About the Designer

Sandhya Garg is a Project Runway alumna and the founder of her namesake label, headquartered in Los Angeles. She designs every print from scratch — drawing, sketching, painting, and developing through CAD before printing at her own facility. Her collections are produced in small batches in studios in the USA and India, supporting heritage craftspeople whose embroidery and textile skills have been perfected over generations. Featured in Elegant Magazine and 7 Hues Fashion Magazine, Sandhya's work sits at the intersection of bold artisanal prints, Indian textile heritage, and modern occasion dressing.

Is this kaftan dress appropriate for a formal wedding?

Yes. The viscose linen satin fabric and ornamental print give this kaftan a dressy, occasion-appropriate look that works for formal weddings, semi-formal celebrations, and black-tie-optional events. The maxi length and structured print read as elevated rather than casual. For strictly black-tie events, pair with heeled sandals and statement jewelry to dress it up further.

What body types does this kaftan dress flatter?

The relaxed kaftan silhouette is universally flattering because it skims rather than clings. The adjustable waist tie lets you define your shape — cinch it tighter for more definition or leave it loose for a flowing column effect. Available in sizes XS through XXXL. The kaftan cut works especially well for women who want coverage and comfort without sacrificing elegance.

What fabric is this dress made from, and is it comfortable for outdoor weddings?

The dress is crafted from a viscose linen satin blend — a lightweight, breathable fabric with a subtle sheen. It is ideal for outdoor and summer weddings because the fabric promotes airflow while maintaining its drape and structure. You will stay comfortable through extended ceremonies and receptions in warm weather.

Is this print exclusive to Sandhya Garg?

Yes. Every print in Sandhya Garg's collections is an original design — developed from scratch through hand sketching, painting, and CAD refinement, then printed at her own facility. You will not find this print replicated by another brand. The limited-quantity production run means availability is finite.

How does a kaftan differ from a regular maxi dress?

A kaftan has a wider, more flowing silhouette than a fitted or A-line maxi dress. Where a standard maxi typically follows the body's contours, a kaftan drapes loosely from the shoulders with generous fabric width. This creates an effortlessly elegant look with maximum comfort and ease of movement — you can sit, dance, and move freely without adjusting. The Duchess kaftan adds structure through its waist tie and pleating, giving you the comfort of a kaftan with the polish of occasion wear.

What shoes should I wear with a red kaftan maxi dress?

Gold or rose-gold heeled sandals are the strongest pairing — the warm metallic tones complement the red-pink print beautifully. For outdoor events on grass or sand, embellished flat sandals or block-heeled mules keep you stable and comfortable. Avoid closed-toe pumps, which compete visually with the flowing maxi length. Nude heels also work if you want the dress to be the sole focal point.

Can I wear this dress to events beyond weddings?

Absolutely. This kaftan dress works for cocktail parties, anniversary dinners, resort evening wear, vacation dressing, festive celebrations, gala events, and milestone occasions. Its versatility comes from the print's richness and the fabric's adaptability — it reads as formal with heels and jewelry, or relaxed-luxe with sandals and minimal accessories.

Enchanting
Format: Kindle
"Queen of Roses" by Briar Boleyn is a delightful and refreshing reimagining of the classic tale of King Arthur, with a captivating twist that places the spotlight on Morgan, a character who has often been overshadowed in traditional retellings. Boleyn's creative decision to shift the narrative perspective to Morgan breathes new life into the story, offering readers an intriguing and compelling look at the Arthurian world from an entirely different angle. One of the most commendable aspects of this book is its incorporation of Fae elements, which adds an enchanting layer of magic and mystery to the already familiar Arthurian setting. Boleyn skillfully weaves the world of the Fae into the narrative, creating a captivating backdrop against which the events of the story unfold. This addition not only adds depth to the world-building but also provides ample opportunities for twists and turns that keep readers thoroughly engrossed. However, while the book boasts numerous strengths, it does have one noticeable flaw: the characterization of Morgan. While it is reasonable to create a flawed and complex protagonist, it appears that at times, Morgan's character becomes overly difficult and hard to relate to. Her persistently negative perception of one of the main male characters, who is a potential love interest, despite his efforts to support and assist her, may come across as somewhat irrational and could test the patience of some readers. Striking a balance between a strong, independent character and one who can recognize genuine support and affection could have enhanced the overall reader experience. Nonetheless, the allure of "Queen of Roses" lies in its innovative approach to the Arthurian legend and its skillful blending of fantasy elements into a familiar narrative. Boleyn's evocative prose draws readers into a world where magic, destiny, and fate entwine, leaving us eager to uncover the mysteries that unfold within the pages. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

An action-packed dark romantasy
Format: Kindle
I loved this book! Queen of Roses is an Arthurian-inspired dark romantasy that is the first book in the Blood of Fae series. The story follows Morgan, the princess of Camelot who is rumored to be part fae. Fueled by prejudiced hatred and a mistrust of fae blood, Morgan’s abusive father strips her of her birthright and hands it to her half-brother, Arthur. Instead of becoming queen, Morgan is commanded to join the temple of the goddesses when she comes of age. However, Arthur turns into a psychopathic, power-hungry, fae-hating king as he ages. He develops malevolent plans and commands Morgan to find an ancient weapon with legendary power. Although Morgan is wary of Arthur’s intentions, she embraces the opportunity to go on a journey and potentially change her fate. The story picks up from there and we follow Morgan on her quest to find the ancient relic. It’s full of high stakes adventure, mystery, tension, banter, forced proximity, hidden magic, self discovery, and betrayal. This first installment of the series intricately develops the world building and character development. There’s little romance in this book, but it is evident that it is a slow burn that will continue to develop throughout the remainder of the series. Overall, I loved the world building, the epic fantasy, Morgan’s journey of self discovery, and all of the twists and turns that set the stage for the future installments. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Arthurian Fae Quest…say less.
Format: Kindle
A fae centered Arthurian tale unlike any I’ve read so far. The author did a great job at descriptive world building, with scenes easily playing out in my minds eye. There was plenty of action, suspense, and even a touch of horror. An enemies to lovers, slow burn romance, a quest, with plot twist and turns aplenty. There was a love triangle, which I’m not usually a fan of but, it played out well in this story line. The FMC, Morgan Pendragon, was so blatantly naïve, yet I typically expect as much in a ‘book one’ of a series, especially one that features a fairly sheltered princess. I was happy to read that in spite of this, she still showed a strong sense of morals, fire, and spine. Now our MMC? Kairos Draven, aka Void’s Edge. Oh, how I’m a sucker for a smoking’ hot grumpy warrior alpha with a witty mouth, and a strong sense of “touch her and die” attitude, so you know who held all my cards. That ending? Just made me swoon all the harder. Now add a battlecat that rivals the size of a horse…and well Ms. Briar Boleyn you have well and truly stolen my heart. I’m excited to see where the story goes from here, and follow along to see more of the characters growth. I went into this story fairly blind, and I think I enjoyed it all the more because of it. Once the story got going, it had me in an absolute chokehold and it was difficult to put down.

Not a bad start
Format: Kindle
3 stars Thank you Netgalley and Briar Boleyn for the ARC! A camelot/king Arthur retelling with fae. I was hooked by the idea of this book immediately and was eager to jump into this world. • slow burn • enemies to lovers • who did this to you Morgan Pendragon watched her mother die by her father's hand when she was just eight years old, hiding under the bed. Morgan is believed to have the tainted blood of the fae in her veins and is cast aside so that her fathers illegitimate son, Arthur, can become the king. She's seen his cruel treatment of the fae firsthand, so when he sends her on a journey to find a fae weapon she seizes the opportunity to do more with her life. Along the way, she finds more than she could have imagined. I don't know a whole lot about King Arthur and Camelot but I had a lot of fun with this story! The plot has some similar tropes to popular romantasy books (From blood and ash) but there's enough originality here that it doesn't feel like I'm reading a copy. I liked how the fae were different in appearance than what is typical in most fantasy books I've read. In this book they have blue hair, violet skin and a wide range of other characteristics. I thought that the world building was easy to follow and I could easily immerse myself into this world. After reading the blurb I kept wondering when she was going to go on the journey to find Excalibur and it doesn't happen until around the 45% mark. The story is a bit slow at times but starts to pick up once they begin their journey to find Excalibur. The John Wick style Inn was a fun concept that I enjoyed reading about. There are a lot of similarities to this and FBAA and I would have liked to have it be a little more different, but I'm hoping book two will have the story turn into something of its own. Overall I enjoyed reading this story and I'm looking forward to reading book two especially after that ending.

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.
