Kendall Curasorb Calcium Alginate Dressing — Gel Block Technology, 20x Absorption, 6 Sizes

Vertical wicking. High calcium. Minimal shrinkage. One-piece removal. Kendall Curasorb Calcium Alginate Dressings are sterile, highly absorbent primary wound dressings engineered with a unique fiber configuration that sets them apart from standard calcium alginate dressings. Where most alginates absorb laterally — spreading exudate outward toward the wound margins — Curasorb's gel block fiber structure encourages vertical wicking, pulling exudate straight through the dressing for more efficient removal and reduced risk of periwound maceration. The formula features a higher percentage of guluronic acid than standard alginates, producing a stable, cohesive gel that maintains dressing integrity through the full wear period and allows clean one-piece removal with minimal tissue trauma. The unique calcium-to-sodium ratio actively donates calcium to the wound while removing sodium, supporting the ion exchange that initiates epithelialization and speeds hemostasis. Available in 6 sizes — pads from 2"x2" to 6"x10" plus a 12" rope for cavity and tunneling wounds.

✔ Gel Block Technology — Vertical Wicking, More Efficient Exudate Removal    ✔ Absorbs Up to 20x Its Weight    ✔ Donates Calcium, Removes Sodium — Regulates Wound Bed    ✔ High Guluronic Acid — Stable Gel, Easy One-Piece Removal    ✔ Minimal Shrinkage — Protects Periwound Skin    ✔ 6 Sizes Including Rope

What Makes Curasorb Different — The Technology Behind the Dressing

Most calcium alginate dressings are built from a standard mix of mannuronic and guluronic acid polymer chains. The ratio between these two components determines how the dressing behaves at saturation: mannuronic-heavy alginates produce a softer, more elastic gel that can spread and fragment; guluronic-heavy alginates form a firmer, more cohesive, stable gel. Curasorb is formulated with a higher percentage of guluronic acid, which produces a denser, more stable gel matrix that holds its form through the wear period — making the dressing easier to remove cleanly without leaving fiber or gel fragments in the wound bed, and maximizing patient comfort at dressing change.

The second key distinction is the gel block fiber configuration. Standard alginates absorb exudate horizontally — spreading laterally across the dressing face and toward the wound margins. This lateral spread can deposit absorbed exudate against the periwound skin, increasing maceration risk. Curasorb's gel block fiber design channels exudate vertically upward through the dressing body rather than outward. The result is more efficient fluid capture, better protection of the periwound border, and reduced maceration — allowing the dressing to be worn longer between changes even on moderate-to-heavy draining wounds.

The third differentiator is the calcium-to-sodium ratio. Curasorb is engineered with high calcium levels and an isotonic sodium configuration. As wound exudate contacts the dressing, sodium from the wound fluid exchanges with calcium in the alginate fibers. Curasorb's formulation is designed to maximize this exchange — actively donating calcium back into the wound environment (which supports hemostasis and the clotting cascade) while efficiently removing sodium (which, in excess, can inhibit cellular proliferation and delay healing). The isotonic sodium configuration ensures the exchange is gentle and non-irritating to wound tissue.

  • Higher guluronic acid percentage — firmer, more stable gel that holds integrity and removes cleanly
  • Gel block fiber configuration — vertical wicking draws exudate through the dressing, not toward wound margins
  • Minimal shrinkage — dressing maintains its coverage area as it gels, protecting the periwound border
  • High calcium levels — speeds hemostasis and supports the healing cascade
  • Isotonic sodium configuration — gentle on wound tissue, non-irritating ion exchange
  • Donates calcium, removes sodium — actively regulates the wound bed ionic environment
  • Jump-starts epithelialization — the calcium-sodium exchange initiates cellular migration signals
  • Up to 20x absorption — reduces dressing change frequency on high-drainage wounds
  • One-piece painless removal — minimizes tissue trauma and patient discomfort at dressing change

Choosing the Right Size

  • 9232 — 2" x 2": Small wounds, pressure injuries on bony prominences, vascular access or pin sites, small skin tears and abrasions — any wound where a compact dressing footprint is needed
  • 9233 — 4" x 4": The most versatile and commonly used size — standard pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and surgical wounds of average size. Cut with sterile scissors to fit smaller wound shapes.
  • 9240 — 4" x 5½": Slightly extended pad ideal for wounds that run longer than a standard 4x4 — surgical incisions, elongated leg ulcers, and heel wounds where added length provides full coverage without requiring two pads.
  • 9238 — 4" x 8": For larger flat wounds — wide pressure ulcers, extensive donor sites, larger surgical wounds, and wounds across the sacrum or trochanter where a 4x4 would require overlapping multiple dressings.
  • 9239 — 6" x 10": Largest pad size — extensive wounds, large burn surfaces, wide venous ulcers on the lower leg, or any wound requiring broad surface coverage in a single dressing application.
  • 9231 — 12" Rope: For cavity wounds, tunneling wounds, sinus tracts, and deep irregular wounds. Loosely packed by fluffing and layering into the wound cavity — never tightly compressed — to ensure exudate access to the fiber surface throughout the wound depth.

Application Instructions

  1. Using forceps or sterile gloves, apply the Curasorb dressing to the wound bed as the primary dressing
  2. For flat wounds: apply pad directly to wound surface — select a size with minimal overlap onto periwound skin
  3. For cavity/tunneling wounds: fluff the rope and loosely pack by layering back and forth into the wound cavity — do not pack tightly, ensure dressing does not overfill or compress wound margins
  4. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing to secure and provide additional absorbency as needed
  5. Change when secondary dressing reaches absorbent capacity, or as wound condition warrants — typically every 1–3 days; may be left up to 7 days on lower-drainage wounds

Removal: Gently remove secondary dressing, then lift Curasorb dressing from the wound bed — the stable guluronic gel formula and vertical wicking design allow the dressing to lift in one piece with minimal residue. If any adherence occurs, moisten with sterile saline before removing.

App/Vacuum Loses maps after 3 months of use.
I'm hoping someone from Eufy is monitoring these reviews. We love...loved our Eufy. It works great. The mapping and map editing is so nice to be able to program the vacuum to clean different rooms each day. We love the self cleaning system that empties the Eufy after each use. We owned a Roomba a few years ago with the self empty option and it never worked. We had it replaced by Roomba twice and it still never worked. This one works exceptionally well. BUT here we are 3 months later and the app is losing the map. nearly every day, the system has to re-map our entire space. Yesterday, it had no map and went down the stairs. The unit is supposed to have a sensor to prevent it from going where there are drop offs but apparently this issue with the mapping is also showing up in the unit being unable to stay in the cleaning area. I'm hoping that someone from Eufy will reach out to help. Thanks,

Quiet, that's about the only good quality
UPDATE: Moving to 5 stars! Quickly after my 2 star review (below) the seller reached out and askked to exchange the defective product for an upgraded model at no cost to me. They were attentive and quick in responding, and I received a replacement version that also included the mopping functionality (The first didn't have this), and it works as expected. Customer service was too notch. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. This is a lot quieter than my original Roomba, that is still running strong...but I wanted a 2nd robot vac so I could run one on the main floor and 2nd floor of my home. This one doesn't fit the bill, and I will be returning. I ran it while I was at home, and it stopped 4 times, telling me I needed to clean the brush. There was absolutely nothing bound on the brush any of the times. But had I not been home, it wouldn't have finished cleaning because it stops completely when it thinks there is hair. Then, another time, it just stopped running. It didn't say anything, so I don't know why it stopped. I assume it thought it was done, but the whole level of my home wasn't finished. This was all in just the one time I attempted to run it for 1 cycle. When I pushed the start button again, it said something to the effect of starting cleaning, so that's what makes me assume the last cycle was over. It does clean well, and is very quiet; however, it just stops for no reason far too often. I want it to run while I'm at the office, which obviously won't work if I have to be here babysitting it for the imaginary dirt on the brush. This will unfortunately be getting returned. I think I'll stick to the Roomba brand, as I have far less issues with my 10+ year old vac than this new one with all the nice features.

Decent robot vacuum, but struggles with dog hair
The setup was straightforward and the self-empty station is a nice feature. It navigates the house fairly well and does a decent job picking up everyday dust and debris on hard floors. Where it struggles is with dog hair. With a shedding dog in the house, I noticed it tends to leave behind quite a bit of hair, especially along edges and in areas where it tends to accumulate. It works better for lighter debris but doesn’t seem powerful enough to keep up with heavier pet hair. Pros: Easy setup and app integration Self-empty station is convenient Navigates rooms fairly well Cons: Struggles with dog hair Not as strong as expected for pet households Bottom Line: This vacuum works fine for general cleaning and light debris, but if you have a dog that sheds a lot, it may not keep up as well as expected. For pet owners specifically, it might not be the best fit.

Very Disappointed with this Vacuum
After having a Shark Robot Vacuum for many years, my husband decided to upgrade to newer technology (easier boundary settings, better mapping etc) On a good note, when this thing works - it works great. One of my biggest complaints with the Shark was I had to put physical boundary strips at the top of the stairs etc. This Eufy is very easy to set "no go zones" on the app, works famously in that aspect. This vac also seems to "work" in a more organized manner. I can see on the app exactly what was cleaned after every scheduled cleaning etc. The Shark would just buzz around the house all willy nilly, but this Eufy seems to be very organized in the cleaning, not missing anywhere. Now for the most aggravating part. I have my Eufy scheduled to clean every night @ 1:00 am, while we are sleeping. Most nights @ 1:15 am I get a notification on my phone "Roller Brush Stuck". Well obviously I don't see the notification until morning. I go "find" Eufy (which is easy with the app - shows you right where she is - another nice thing compared to the Shark) Pull the Roller Brush, which mind you, nothing is wrong with, it is not stuck, there is nothing wrapped around it etc. Put it back in & restart. This has done this since day one, brand new out of the box. After doing some scouring of the Internet, I see that this is a big complaint with many other owners of this model. From what I gather, Eufy is aware of this and it is a known problem. I called Eufy Customer Care after about using this for one week. The phone call lasted over 45 minutes (part of my life that I will never get back!) Now mind you, the representative was very helpful & thorough. We walked through a couple procedures, (The Rep had me pull the roller brush etc & report to her what I was "seeing") Which again, I had performed everything the Rep had me do religiously for the past week, but No, she like wouldn't take my word for it, I had to do all this again while on the phone with her - - almost like she didn't believe me at first. Next, the Rep offered to send me a "newer design roller brush" Ok, cool, if it solves the problem let's do it - I just wanted to get off the phone & on with my day. Oh wait, there are no new design roller brushes in stock. Now I'm told to send just the robot back (not the dock) I told the Rep to send me a call tag, as I wasn't going to pay shipping on a "brand new used one week" item. Oh wait, now she has located the replacement roller brushes. So here we are back to the original solution, she will send me a replacement roller brush. Took my name, my address, phone number, name of first & last born children etc. Just a long drawn out process to send me the "fix" for their known manufacture problem. So to make my long story even longer, here I sit a month and a 1/2 later without ever receiving the replacement brush and an unreliable product who doesn't complete her "mission" most nights. I wish this vacuum was still within the 30 day Amazon return period, because I would have sent it back after experiencing this defect. However my husband had bought this for me for Christmas (before the date that Amazon offers their extended holiday returns window) I didn't even unbox this vacuum before the 30 days were up. The App with the mapping & the expansive scheduling options is great compared to the Shark, but I bought the Eufy to vacuum, which she fails @ nightly.

Great upgrade from my old robot
Size: Freo S, Size: Freo S
I had a different robot vacuum for a little over four years, and it finally started giving out, so I decided to try this one. It’s definitely an upgrade. The first thing I noticed is that it runs much quieter than my old one, which I really appreciate. The self-emptying feature is super convenient as I don’t have to dump the container every single day like I used to. It mapped my home surprisingly fast. It moved through each room for a minute or two and somehow had the whole layout figured out almost immediately. I did adjust the room boundaries a bit, but nothing complicated. Cleaning performance has been solid. I usually run it on the highest suction because I have a cat and a couple of carpeted rooms, and it handles the hair pretty well. For hardwood, there are lower modes too. It also has a mopping feature, but I don’t use it—I prefer my regular steam mop for that. Setup was easy, and connecting it to the app took just a moment. And it charges quickly too.
